Horses are natural social animals. Our goal is to provide this natural setting by maximizing pasture time, meaning less stall time. When in the barn, we like to increazse socialization by keeping stall doors open (with stall guards). This allows the horses to not feel so confined or trapped while maintaing a sense of welcome indoors.

With adequate time in the pasture, horses are psychologically more content in their workouts and more eager to please their riding partners with their performance. "When horses spend equal to or greater amounts of time in a stall than what they do outside, we start to see horses become distressed and psychologically unfit." Rachael continues to explain, "when we give our horses the time to socialize and act on their natural instincts, we don't see these behaviours. We can increase the value of our relationship with our horse by letting a horse ultimately be a horse. A horse will perform much better and have the tendency to want to please the rider when the rider learns to give back to the horse. In the end, an ultimate win for both parties."

 

In resepct to nutrition and feeding, Foxhill offers Nutritional Packages and customizable supplement options to fill in any nutritional gaps. Along with a great nutrition program, Foxhill exercises natural feeding; ground-feeding and slow-feeding, both in the barn and out in the pasture.

Our nutrition programs encompass a holistic approach to all nutritional needs. With many tailored options for everyday diets, to specialized supplements aiding in physiological or biological ailments, we provide the horse with the necessary nutritional tools needed for optimal health.

 

Foxhill Equestrian Centre is proud to be an eco-friendly barn. Harnessing it's power from solar energy and water from its personal well, Foxhill strives to maintain a low carbon footprint.
