Director of Foxhill Equestrian Centre, Rachael Bakker, specializes in Equine Nutrition and Physiology. A graduate from the University of Guelph in Nutrition & Nutraceutical Sciences and Equine Nutrition from the University of Edinburgh, Rachael has an outstanding nutritional & physiological knowledge base of humans and equines. A strength-training enthusiast and holisitic and naturopathic user herself, Rachael also applies the practices to her horses and family. She is a proud horse owner with no history of colic. "Research indicates that if you give a horse the nutrition it's genetically built to consume, as a result, there are no gastrointestinal issues. When we introduce particular feeds into the diet of a horse that is not naturally abundant in nature, its then we see issues within the gastrointestinal tract. We've seen certain grains that ferment in the hindgut causing colic. It's simple, lets not feed our horses these grains that cannot be fermented in the foregut and lets feed the approriate feeds little and often."

Rachael continues to educate horse owners on equine nutrition and exercise physiology through current scientific research, educational seminars and clinics, while continuing to provide exceptional equine care at Foxhill Equestrian Centre.
