Our Barn
At Foxhill we strive to keep our barn clean and tidy. These duties include keeping the shedrow clean of debris, cob-web removal, deoderizing, dusting, tastefully adding decoartions for each holiday season, keeping our washroom clean for boarder use and of course, general repair and up-keep of the barn itself.

Our Stalls
-
10'x12' and 12'x14' stalls
-
Deeply bedded with caedar and pine shavings in the summer (mmm.. the smell) and insulated with straw in the winter to keep the heat in and the horses warm. Horses love a comfy and fluffy straw stall in the winter.
-
Stalls are cleaned thoroughly, first-thing every morning. Urine is swept and deoderized and fresh bedding is topped.
-
Water buckets emptied and scrubbed daily. Fresh water is added upon turn-in.
-
Stall guards are used to allow horses to socialize with one another and to allow horses to check out the action and on-goings in the barn.
-
Hay nets can be used to allow for slow feeding, should owner provide.
-
First cut timothy and grass mix hay is given morning before graining and given in the evening upon turn-in and topped up before closing in for the evening.
-
Beet pulp is soaked hot and served warm in the morning and evening as a first course. Brooks Omega Fibre Plus is pre-soaked for 15 minutes prior to feeding. Supplements are added to the concentrate and given as a second course.

Our Indoor Arena
Our upkeep of our arena includes regular harrowing, dust control, and removal of fecal matter.

Pasture Management
Pasture is not only gold for horses, but an important investment for any horse owner on any horse farm.
We maintain the forage in our pastures by rotating the herd, allowing for the grass to take a break to regenerate and at certain times of the year, we let the grass go to seed to set the pastures for the next year's forage (as seen in the picture).
We regularily remove and harrow the manure to speed up decomposition periods which in turn, keep pests to a minimum in our fields.
Our fences are given much consideration and are regularily inspected and maintained.
The run-in shelters are regularily cleaned of fecal debris and bedded with straw in all seasons.
In the winter, the paddocks are cleaned of manure and scrap hay.
